Abstract

The doctoral thesis is focused on a topic of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its evaluation. Due to a dynamic development of CSR resulting in a plenty of various definitions and terminology many research questions have raised. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to propose and verify an approach based on a utilization of selected multiple-attribute decision making methods for evaluation and mutual comparison of CSR performance of chosen banking organizations operating in the Czech Republic throughout the years 2014-2017. With respect to evolution processes and methodological directions of practical usage of multiple-attribute decision making, AHP, Fuzzy AHP, and DEMATEL-ANP methods were applied. In that case the AHP method represented the initial methodological tool for multiple-attribute decision making that had its limitations and imperfections in depicting real decision-making situations and their outcomes. To deal with these barriers, fuzzy logic and a so-called hybrid approach were used. The doctoral thesis is divided into two sections. The first one covers a theoretical and methodical basis, while the second one summarises obtained results and findings. The main point of the theoretical part is to specify a definition of CSR used for doctoral research purposes. A concept named triple-bottom-line dividing the field of CSR into three domains: economic, environmental, and social, was adopted. The triple-bottom-line approach influenced a form of a hierarchic decision-making structure covering three topical criteria and nine sub-criteria. The banking organizations, Česká spořitelna, a.s., Komerční banka, a.s. a UniCreditbank Czech Republic, a.s., represented the lowest level of the hierarchy that meant the options between which decision-making processes were realized and assessed. Finally, obtained computations and results including a group decision-making analysis of consistency and consensus were summarised and discussed. The main outcome of the doctoral thesis is a verification of the proposed approach using selected multiple-attribute decision making methods and comments on possible future research directions.
