Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design of a mast tilting device for a wind direction indicator located on the rooftop heliport of Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem. The aim of the thesis is to design a structural solution that enables safe tilting of the mast during maintenance of the windsock and obstacle lighting in the limited space of the heliport. The thesis includes a description of the operating conditions, the actual structural design of the mast and the requirements for the tilting mechanism. The work also contains calculation verification of wind loading, determination of forces and moments acting on the structure, design of a manually operated trapezoidal screw mechanism and verification of selected structural components. The trapezoidal screw is further assessed using FEM analysis. The result of the thesis is a design of a mast tilting device that enables safe and operationally suitable tilting of the mast during maintenance operations.
