Abstract
The bachelor thesis deals with the verification of analytical models for predicting the ultimate tensile strength of a short-fiber composite on a commercial 3D printing filament reinforced with short carbon fibers. The theoretical part describes composite materials, fiber reinforcements, matrices, and models for short-fiber composites, especially the rule of mixtures, Cox, Kelly–Tyson, and Fu–Lauke models. The experimental part includes tensile tests of the filament and microscopic analysis of the fibers, from which strength, elastic modulus, strain at failure, fiber lengths, orientations, diameter, and fiber volume fraction were determined. Finally, the experimental data were compared with several investigated strength models.
