Abstract

My bachelor work is dealing with the giant wine barrel in original condition from Renaissance period. Basic question of the bachelor work is the requirement of steel hoops on the barrel. Answer to this question is given by comparison of results obtained from numerical models simulations of the barrels with hoops and without. For calculation modeling was used the method of finite elements by the software ANSYS 12.0. Workbench. First step was to determine the material characteristic of oaken barrel. In the calculation the material is considered as an isotropic material. Proportions of the barrel and most of the boundary conditions were obtained during the visitation of chateau in Mikulov from the room where the barrel is placed. The main result of this work is confirmation that the steel bracing strips - the hoops are required.
