Abstract

This thesis deals with issues of machining stainless steels. The theoretical part is devoted to problems of stainless steels, dividing steels into different sorts, surface roughness along with surfice roughness characteristic, milling and cutting force measurement. In the experimental part the surface roughness values are shown on samples of steel 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10) DIN 17 240 milled on the piezoelectric dynamometer KISTLER type 9255B. The results were evaluated, and as a result are cutting component values of forces Ffn, Ff and Fp. In conclusion, the quality of machined surface after face milling is evaluated on mentioned samples of steels. The quality is also assessed in view of depending cutting force components on the selected cutting conditions.
