Abstract
This thesis deals with the structural design and manufacturing technology of hob. The introduction summarises the possibilities of hobbing technology. The structural design of single tool parts is detailed elaborated on the base of theoretical knowledge, which are improved by calculation of cutting edge geometry, including tooth shape and modification of hob tooth profile. These findings are subsequently applied to specific intent. The designed hob considers the construction differences from conventional milling cutter. The main manufacturing operations which have the predominant influences on hob quality are described in detail in the chapter related to manufacturing. The main accent is focused on relief and grinding of hob profile operation with respect to maximal toll precision.
