Abstract

This dissertation deals with the gear fatigue tests. Gear is one of the most used mechanisms for transmitting rotary motion at high torques. For calculation of load capacity of spur gears is, in most cases, necessary to consider the fatigue properties of the used material and chemical-thermal treatment by influence of time-varying load. At the beginning of theoretical part are presented to ways of wear and damage to gear teeth. Further are introduced mechanisms that cause to fatigue failure in gears and methods of graphical interpretation by the S-N curve. Integral parts are evolution and real-ization of gears fatigue test and their reflection in the international standards. There is briefly mentioned the classification of these tests as well. Important chapter of this part is design of the methodology for realization of gear running tests and pulsator tests. The experimental part of dissertation thesis is focused on the research of bending fatigue strength. Gear fatigue tests were made to the purchase order reputable companies engage with the production of automobile and machine tools. Realization and evaluation of these tests corresponds with the proposed methodology. The obtained results are com-pared with reference values of equivalent materials that are given by Czech technical standard ČSN EN ISO 6336-5:2005. The independent appendix is a catalog of gear S-N curves. This one is provide to designers and engineer - computation the summary information of gears fatigue tests results. Base for this catalog were original test results which originally served as basis for the draft of Czechoslovak technical standard ČSN 01 4686-5:1988. The own experiment results were also implemented to the catalog.
