Abstract

This thesis focuses on the rationalization of a traction motor frame used for rolling stock. The primary motivation behind this study is the occurrence of undesirable deformations in the frame body during the manufacturing process. Before proposing a rationalization, the thesis examines the current production state, covering aspects from material characteristics and preparation to subsequent welding and machining operations. Subsequently, a rationalized production design is proposed, based on the results of an experiment in which a component model was subjected to real-world loading conditions using specialized software. The core of the proposed rationalization lies in the introduction of a support structure designed to counteract the forces at the specific points identified as the cause of deformation. The final section of the thesis is dedicated to an economic comparison between the original and the proposed manufacturing processes.
