Abstract

This thesis deals with the weldability of high carbon steels type R200 and R260. Steels of this type are used for the production of rails. The theoretical part of this work is focused on evaluating the appropriateness of methods of welding and its influence on the resulting mechanical properties of weld deposits with regard to the chemical composition of raw materials and consumables used. The experimental part of the work is focused on the study of welded test samples by 111 - coated welding electrode and 121 - submerged arc welding wire electrode. These samples were investigated in terms of microstructure and hardness waveforms. The aim of this work is to assess the suitability of welding consumables, welding methods used with regard to the weldability of materials with desired properties of specific combinations of cladding.
