Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of multi-criteria decision-making. The aim of the thesis is to select the optimal insurance policy for a recreational building through the application of multi-criteria decision-making methods. The first part of the thesis outlines the theoretical foundations of non-life insurance, with a focus on personal property insurance. The next section is devoted to the description of multi-criteria decision-making methods. This chapter describes the elements of decision-making, the phases of the decision process, and methods for data transformation and normalization. It provides a detailed description of Saaty's method and the scoring method for determining criteria weights, followed by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Weighted Sum Approach for the multi-criteria evaluation of alternatives. The fourth chapter analyzes the products of all insurance companies that offer recreational building insurance. In the final chapter, the described methods are applied to select the best insurance option for a recreational building. The decision-making model consists of Saaty's method and AHP, while the scoring method and the Weighted Sum Approach were used to verify the robustness of the results. Based on the outcomes of these models, the best alternative is selected and recommended to the subject.
