Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on evaluating the technological process and energy demand of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) production at OZO Ostrava s.r.o. The aim of the thesis is to quantify the total energy input required for the treatment of mixed municipal solid waste and plastics based on real operational data from the Kunčice sorting line and to compare it with the energy potential of the final product intended for the heating industry. The analysis evaluates in detail the energy inputs comprising collection logistics, mechanical processing, and outbound transport to the final consumer. The results demonstrate the high efficiency of the implemented technology; the determined energy return clearly proves that the produced fuel contains multiple times more usable energy than was actually consumed throughout its entire production chain. Specifically, the obtained energy in the fuel is nearly 37 times the invested energy for mixed municipal waste and almost 18 times for plastics.
The thesis confirms that SRF production represents a sustainable tool of the circular economy, strategically contributing to the effective substitution of fossil fuels.
