Abstract
This diploma thesis is focused on the osteosynthesis of 5th metatarsal bone. In the theoretical part, the human anatomy focused on a leg, analysis of types of fractures and methods of their treatment are described, mainly the individual types of osteosynthesis of these fractures are discussed. Then various possibilities of osteosynthesis of 5th metatarsal are described. In the practical part the stress-strain analysis with its refinement of the selected implant, specifically the Herbert screw is performed. Analysis consists of analytical (deterministic) and stochastic (the implant's reliability assessment) calculations. In addition, a new experiment is accomplished which is aimed at detecting the forces acting on the implant in the bone. The results from the experimental, analytical and stochastic calculations are compared and they are in a good agreement.
