Abstract

Bachelor thesis deals with the optimization of the milling process for complex-shaped surfaces of kaplan turbine runner blades. The introduction provides a literature review of the current state of production, focusing on the conventional ball-end milling method in comparison with modern PPC methods using conical barrel tools. The main objective of the thesis is to evaluate the benefits of both methods and to determine a more efficient procedure based on cutting parameters and surface quality. Furthermore, the thesis describes the selection and application of CAM software used to develop the NC program for blade production. It is expected that the use of a conical barrel tool will result in better surface roughness and reduced cycle time. The conclusion of the thesis provides a technical and economic evaluation of the measured data.
