Abstract

The master thesis deals with the design of a logistics centre. In the introduction, the history, development, and possible future direction of logistics centres are described. Then, based on the assignment, a concept of a logistics centre model is drawn up, the necessary simplification and preparation for transferring this concept to Witness software is carried out. The thesis then explains the process of creating an automated logistics centre model. This is then tested, and a second version is created representing a human-operated logistics centre. The thesis concludes by setting parameters for both versions of the model so that the simulations performed on them are as close to reality as possible. The simulations are then compared with each other (automated and human-operated version) and evaluated from several different perspectives. The thesis also includes a simple financial analysis comparing the initial and operating costs of the two versions of the logistics centre.
