Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the non-contact analysis of deformations using the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method. The aim of the thesis is to experimentally verify the applicability of the DIC method for the measurement of residual deformations and to compare the obtained results with a numerical simulation using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The investigated object is a titanium bridge manufactured using 3D printing technology. The theoretical part describes the history and principle of the DIC method and briefly presents other optical methods used in practice. It also focuses on methods for measuring residual stresses and on the Finite Element Method. The practical part is devoted to the realization of an experiment aimed at determining residual deformations using the sectioning method. The deformation analysis was performed using Alpha software, and the obtained results were subsequently compared with the FEM simulation.
