Abstract
This master thesis deals with the design of a top-quality steam turbine for a steam-gas cycle in the Dominican Republic, based on the assignment provided by Doosan Škoda Power a.s. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the analysis of the need for these energy sources in the electricity grids of the different countries at present. The theoretical part also includes an analysis of general information about steam turbines, including the definition of design and operational characteristics of turbines meeting peak load within the daily load diagram of the power system. The practical part of the thesis is divided into thermal calculation, preliminary design of the flow section, detailed design of the flow section and strength analysis of the designed steam turbine. The thermal calculation is focused on the characterization of two total operations, namely nominal operation, full flow throttling operation and sliding pressure operation. The preliminary design is used to obtain the preliminary flow channel parameters, which are the initial condition for the detailed design using the ca/u method. The strength analysis includes basic strength calculations of the turbine blade, critical speed calculations and control of the outer body. The comprehensive output of each part is a conceptual longitudinal section of the designed steam turbine.
