Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with determining the size of the luggage compartment of passenger cars and assessing the methodologies used by car manufacturers. The beggining includes an introduction to the luggage compartment theory and known methodologies for measuring their volume. Following is a description of cars selected for creating virtual models of luggage. The next section includes simulations of luggage volume measurements using conventional methodologies and a newly designed methologie in Autodesk Inventor virtual environment. In conclusion, the results of simulations are compared with the emphasis on the large differences between the results of individual methods and proposing necessary changes in this issue.
