The Use of Dynamic Simulation in the Manufacturing Process

Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the use of dynamic simulation in the manufacturing process. The introduction deals with the importance of simulation and modeling in the manufacturing process and the general goal of the diploma thesis. The theoretical part contains concepts related to basic terms which include the manufacturing process, performance measurement in the manufacturing process, concepts of simulation and modeling, and application of WITNESS in manufacturing environment. In the practical part, a valve manufacturing process is examined to build a manufacturing process using a WITNESS simulation model. Then, the developed model is analyzed to detect possible blockages and bottlenecks in existing processes and used to propose improved process to eliminate the bottlenecks.
