Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to design a prototype of a device, which should be able to help to alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, which is, as a progressive neurodegenerative disease, untreatable. This device should use the procedure of vibration therapy, which is not similar to conventional methods of alleviating the symptoms, which are in many ways dangerous, inconvenient or much uncomfortable to some of the patients.
In the first part of the thesis, there are described studies, based on which are the essential assumptions for designed device. This is followed by research of similar solutions. The device itself is designed using a systematic approach to engineering design. This approach is trying to describe as many solutions of particular subfunctions of the device as possible. Based on these particular solutions, the concept is designed. For the possibility to focus on deeper details was done a measurement of the handgrip. Using these results, particular device’s components are designed and the prototype is nearly ready for practical realization and testing.
