Abstract
This thesis studies the zeta potential influence on the colloidal solutions stability. The most widely used method for the raw water treatment is coagulation with subsequent resulting aggregates separation. The main goal was therefore to determine the optimal dose of coagulating agent for aggregation and to evaluate separation mechanism with the use of zeta potential development as one of the controlling factors during coagulation.
The theoretical part deals with basic water treatment technologies that are commonly used in practice nowadays. Furthermore, the colloidal dispersions characteristic and the electrokinetic potential theory are described.
The experimental part is focused on the coagulation tests evaluation with three types of coagulating agents in two samples of surface water. After the optimal doses selection tests were repeated with continuous measurement of zeta potential on which basis the stability evaluation of selected solutions was performed.
