Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the design of the cable tunnel, which will be realized in clays using pipe jacking. This method belongs to trenchless technologies that are very widespread nowadays. The theoretical part is devoted to the micro-tunneling and to the pipe jacking method, which are the most widely used trenchless technologies for manholes and clearways. The following chapter is focused on the actual cable tunnels, their emplacement and function. The main part of the diploma thesis is however related to the design of pipe jacked cable tunnel in clays. Its main function will be to connect transformer station for a high voltage network located under the viaduct. First part of the design deals with horizontal and vertical alignment, followed by the proposal of the thrust section. The largest part of the design discusses the shafts, their construction technology and due to the presence of high groundwater levels the evaluation of uplift. The shaft is evaluated on maximum force induced by the jacking station. Final part of the design is focused on the proposal of the maximum thrust force and possible precautions.
