Abstract
This thesis describes selected methods for the calculation of lift on the wing as well as the lift coefficient and its distribution over the span. It describes both methods with analytical solutions, which can be calculated manually as well as numerical methods, which cannot be undertaken without the use of modern technology. In addition to the theoretical part, one can also find code written in Matlab, which is described in considerable detail to help the reader to find his way around it, to use it or to build on it and develop it further. Its outputs include the calculation of the total lift, its distribution over the wingspan, and the lift coefficient of the wing. These calculations can be done for rectangular and trapezoidal wings. Aerodynamic and geometric twist can also be accounted for. There is also a discussion on the use of this code and a description of several inputs in a separate chapter.
