Abstract
This master thesis describes and compares unconventional machining technology of electrical discharge machining. The introduction describes the principle of technology. Then technological parameters have been suggested for cutting in aluminum foam and solid aluminum alloy. Rollers with 22 mm diameters have been cut for mechanical tests. The rollers and the holes are have been measured and examined by electron microscopy. Aluminum foam was subjected to tests of industrial X-ray computer tomography. Measured data have been used to determinate dependencies between sections in aluminum foam with thinner and thicker appearance of pores and solid aluminum. Finally machining costs in aluminum foam and solid alloy have been compared.
