Abstract

The presented dissertation deal of the dry machining of nickel alloys. These are of turning nickel superalloy Inconel 718 by tools with cemented carbide and ceramic inserts without the use of coolant. The introduction contains an analysis of suitable cutting materials for machining nickel alloys. Next chap focuses on machining nickel alloys by tools with defined geometry (turning, milling, drilling). In this part are recommended cutting conditions and geometry of the tools. Other chaps describes the wear of tools, roughness of the machined surface, the force ratio during the cutting process, the residual stress introduced into the machined surface during machining. In this part are recommended methods of measuring the above parameters. The main part of dissertation contains a description of each parts of the experiment, cutting parameters, methods and instruments of measuring of parameters. The main part of the experiment - measuring the wear of tools, durability of inserts and roughness were made in the firm OSSIKO v.s.p. and in laboratories of the Department of machining and assembly in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava. Measuring of forces during machining were made at the University of Žilina and measuring of the residual stress were made at the Department of Mechanical Technology in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava. Next chaps describes the analysis and evaluation of measured results of the experiment using graphs and tables of measured and calculated values. All measured values were statistically processed in the software STATGRAPHIC. The justification of results is stated in this part of dissertation. The final part includes a summary of the results. There are the conclusions of science and research and for practice too. This chap also provided recommendation for the further research this issues and propose other experiments and measurements to the better emphasize and confirm the results and find a new dependence between the parameters in machining nickel alloys.
