Bachelor thesis deals with simplification of hollow shaft and ring gear. The application of boundary condition and creation of mesh was carried out for calculations. Subsequent calculations showed mutual differences of stress and deformations. Furthermore a notch position was selected and notch geometry was changed with the aim of decreasing stress. Two different geometries were considered for new notch. At the end of the thesis the model geometry was adjusted with the purpose of reducing the amount of material on shaft but being still capable of withstanding the defined load. The finite element method was applied to obtain results for each case.
