Abstract

HON, Ondřej. Influence of Alignment Methods and Selected Software on the Results of Optical 3D Measurement. Ostrava, 2026, Bachelor’s Thesis. Ostrava: VSB – Technical university of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of machining, assembly and engineering metrology, Thesis supervisor: Ing. Lenka Čepová, Ph.D. This bachelor’s thesis addresses the issue of optical 3D measurement and analyzes the factors influencing the accuracy of non-contact digitization of components. The thesis focuses primarily on the influence of the positioning (alignment) of the measured object and the influence of the software environment used on the results of the metrological evaluation. The theoretical section summarizes the principles of optical 3D scanning, the characteristics of selected optical scanners, triangulation methods, positioning principles, and the basics of geometric tolerances within the GPS system of standards. The practical section deals with the experimental measurement of a selected component using the ATOS Q and HandySCAN BLACK Elite optical systems and the subsequent evaluation of the data in the VXelements and ZEISS Inspect software tools. The thesis includes a comparison of the results of geometric tolerances for flatness, cylindricity, and hole position, including a statistical evaluation of measurement repeatability and stability. The thesis evaluates the influence of individual alignment methods and software tools on the results of optical 3D metrology and discusses their application in the fields of quality control and industrial metrology.
