Abstract
Lean manufacturing attempts to eliminate all potential sources of wasting. The basic concept of lean manufacturing defines the following potential areas of wasting: overproduction, high inventories, defects, unnecessary movements, losses of time and waiting, unnecessary transport and excessive processing. All these kinds of losses can usually be easily identified by means of easy-to-use methods and procedures. However, lean manufacturing must be above all understood as the right way of thinking. In essence, it is a never ending process whose main goal is to achieve more efficient solutions by changing the thinking of employees. The aim of this work is to assess the applicability of the principles of lean manufacturing in GIFF, a.s. company, as well as to evaluate and suggest appropriate actions for its implementation. Selected potential sources of wasting have been analysed within the company, including their evaluation.
