Vliv multitaskingu na pracovní výkon znalostních pracovníků

Abstract

Modern knowledge workers continually switch their attention between different types of information and activities - in other words, they multitask. The aim of the thesis “The Impact of Multitasking on the Work Performance of Knowledge Employees” was to analyze the impact of multitasking on the work performance of knowledge employees in the Czech Republic. The aim was also to show through concrete examples what measures can lead to an increase in the work performance of knowledge workers and thus can increase performance of the organisations in which they work. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical concepts relevant to the multitasking and work performance are presented in the theoretical part. In the practical part a questionnaire survey and two semi-structured interviews were analyzed and evaluated. Based on the findings from the theoretical and the practical parts, recommendations were formulated to help improve the work performance of knowledge workers and teams which they are part of. Recommendations were concerned with improving communication, introducing more sophisticated systems for managing tasks and projects and methods for dealing with multitasking more effectively on an individual level.
