Abstract
This thesis deals with the influence of some technological parameters of case hardening for the structure of carburized layer.
Gear wheels were part of gear boxes. Three samples were used in this study, when two samples were produced with only different carbon potential of the furnace atmosphere and the third sample was hardened in oil. Their hardness and content of residual austenite was assessed using image analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. The sample with reduced carbon potential in the furnace atmosphere had lower content of residual austenite then the standard sample, which confirmed the hypothesis that this technology can result in decreasing residual austenite content.
