PLHÁK, R. Analysis of the Service Life of the Brake Discs of Railway Wagons: Diploma thesis. Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology, 2019, 93 p. Thesis head: prof. Ing. Jiří Hrubý, CSc. The thesis deals with the problem of excessive wear of brake discs of railway passenger wagons. The theoretical part deals with braking theory, main types of brakes, automatic pressure brakes and parts which it is composed of. In the experimental part there is an analysis of the operational wear of the brake discs of a concrete passenger car in traffic. The next part deals with the calculation of braking distances and braking percentages of a passenger wagon at different speeds. This is followed by a proposal of the change of the brake devices and the modification of the chassis of the vehicle. Finally, there is mentioned a technical-economic evaluation and a conclusion, which summarizes the results.
