Abstract
The present thesis handles the topic “Evaluation of the Effect of Selected Process and Technological Parameters on Final Mechanical Properties of Rails Using Statistical Analysis Methods”. The objective of the thesis is to express the dependence of tensile strength and elongation on chemical composition using multiple linear regressions on 60E1 flat-bottom rails of R260 steel grade and 136RE flat-bottom rails of IH steel grade. Statistical analysis to assess the effect of process and technological parameters on final hardness of the running surface of 136RE rails of IH steel grade was also made. The theoretical section contains characteristics of Třinecké železárny a.s. and description of the rail production process applied at this company. It also contains analysis of the issues related to the statistical methods used. The practical section is focused on the expression of dependence of mechanical properties on chemical composition and process and technological parameters using statistical analysis, and evaluation of the different results and potential measures to be taken.
