Abstract
Master thesis is dealing with the analysis and solution of the problem of breaking of stepped drills, which combine the functions of centering and helical dril bit. It analyses the tools in terms of their distribution, factors affecting tool life such as cutting conditions, coatings and tool geometry. Possible external influences on tool life are taken into account. Following is a detailed description of the tools tested and the vibration measurements on the Grob BZ 550. Based on the analysis of the data collected, a comparison is made between tools and machines and the influence of the results on tool durability. Finally, solutions are proposed to increase tool life. The measurement results are compared with existing production and evaluated with a view to reducing rejects and increasing production reliability.
