Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on the design and simulation of a matrix lighting system (Matrix
LED) for automotive headlamps using polymer optical fibers. The theoretical part summarizes
the fundamentals of photometry, radiometry, and non-imaging optics principles, with a focus on
segmented matrices. The practical part describes the design process in the LightTools environment,
including the optimization of coupling efficiency between the LED source and secondary optics.
The core of the thesis is a comparison of two secondary lens concepts with diameters of 3 mm and
6 mm. Simulation results are evaluated based on the illuminance distribution on the target surface,
assessing range, light field homogenity and compliance with legislative requirements
