Abstract
The bachelor’s thesis focuses on the application of a cogeneration unit within a district heating system. The introductory part summarizes the principles of combined heat and power generation, the classification of cogeneration units, and the specific characteristics of systems based on internal combustion engines. Attention is paid to energy flows, efficiencies, and environmental parameters derived from professional literature and relevant technical standards.
The practical part of the thesis is dedicated to the TEDOM Flexi 430 cogeneration unit installed in the district heating plant in Vrbno pod Pradědem. The thesis analyses its technological configuration, heat-led operating strategy, and the method of integration into the existing thermal and electrical systems. Based on measured operational data, the electrical, thermal, and overall efficiencies are calculated, complemented by the determination of measurement uncertainties in accordance with metrological methodologies. The final evaluation confirms that the cogeneration unit significantly increases the overall efficiency of the energy source, reduces primary energy consumption, and contributes to the mitigation of emission loads in compliance with applicable standards.
