Abstract
The master's thesis deals with the design and strength analysis of a folding basketball jib intended for multi-purpose sports halls. The project focuses on a structure, that allows clearing the playing area by folding it towards the wall using an electric cable drive system. The introductory part consists of research into current structural solutions and an analysis of requirements according to the EN 1270 standard. In the main section, two conceptual variants of the load-bearing system are designed – one with rigid mechanical stops and one without (a cable-stayed concept). These variants are subjected to a comparative numerical simulation in the ANSYS environment using the finite element method. Based on the results a detailed structural design of the chosen variant is carried out. The thesis concludes with a strength check of critical nodes, including calculations of bearing stress, shear stress and bending stress, and checks of steel ropes and welded joints.
