Abstract

My bachelor thesis deals with cataphoretic painting, which can be combined with other methods of corrosion protection of automobile parts. To provide the corrosion protection we can apply a coat of zinc and its alloys (either dipping or electrolytic way) on the protected product and then, in this way modified coat can be protected by cataphoretic painting. My thesis consists of 6 chapters. In chapter one I describe methods of corrosion protection and I compare advantages and disadvantages of these. In chapter two I focus on the principle of the precipitation of cataphoretic coats, and in chapter three I give a theoretical description of the technological process of cataphoretic painting. The main part of my thesis is an experiment, when I first made a cyclical corrosion test in a salt chamber, then I evaluated the abrasion resistance of tested samples and finally I checked the thickness of the applied layer of coat. On the basis of these measurements I compared acquired data and I chose the sample with the best tribological and corrosion properties.
