Abstract

The goal of this thesis is a design and strain checking of the Instrument of Neck-Movement Range. Nowadays a common protractor or tape measure is used for these examinations, but this kind of measuring does not give enough accurate information about the patient's condition. No information about any other used instruments was gained from either the available professional literature or from consultations in the specialist center of FNSP. This thesis deals with the design of the instrument which allows more accurate, faster and simpler measuring of neck-movement range. In the opening chapters both the existing method and the development of each part of the instrument is described. Then the instructions on how to use the instrument for each kind of measuring is stated and the measured values are then possible to convert into real angles by which the head rotates. In the last chapter the instrument is strain checked, i.e. it is checked if it can resist the load which was estimated beforehand by using finite element method in a program ANSYS.
