Abstract
This master thesis deals with machining of a thermal spray coating which is used in the aerospace industry as a sealing coating. Three types of cutting blades with different radii of the tool tip were chosen for the testing. Cylinders with applied coating were used as test samples. Proposed machining parameters were tested by experimental turning operations performed on the coating. Constituents of cutting forces were measured during the machining trials for each cutting blade type and also for each proposed cutting parameter using Kistler dynamometer. HR15Y hardness was determined before and after machining of the coating. Change of the surface roughness after the machining step was measured by an optical contactless method. Measured data figures were statistically processed and evaluated in the final stage of the project.
