Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the issues of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which represent a promising solution to current energy challenges in the areas of safety and operational flexibility. The work focuses on modern design configurations where the main components of the primary circuit are integrated into a single pressure vessel, leading to increased safety and compactness of the entire facility. A significant part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of active and passive safety systems, with an emphasis on residual heat removal mechanisms that utilize natural physical phenomena and do not require external power sources. The steam generator is analyzed in detail as a key element for heat transfer between the primary and secondary circuits, and various types of compact heat exchangers are described. The thesis also includes a simplified thermal calculation of a steam generator for specified parameters, serving to verify heat transfer principles and the correct dimensioning of the equipment. The aim of the work is to provide a comprehensive technical overview of these reactor concepts and their practical feasibility in modern power engineering.
