Abstract

This thesis deals with the characteristic and division of primers and primer mixtures. The constructions of basic types of primers and their main demands are mentioned in the introduction. The historical development of primers and primer mixtures is described there. The main methods of testing the primers and the possible methods influencing their characteristics are described in this thesis. The influence of the percentage of each component of primer mixtures on the functional characteristics of primer as well as complete cartridge was studied. The influence of the tethrazene and the lead styphnate on the sensitivity of primer and on the ballistic output of gun and large rifle cartridge is analysed. The optimal composition of primer mixture was defined after the evaluation of all results.
