Abstract
The bachelor thesis is dedicated to the design of gears made of polymers. In the initial part of the thesis, the advantages and types of polymers used for the production of gears are described. Then the failures and defects of the parts are presented. Subsequently, the technology used for the production of plastic gears is explained. In order to minimize the occurrence of defects, the basic principles of plastic parts design are presented in the thesis. Based on the information found, modifications to the pinion and gear wheel were made. This was followed by a Moldflow analysis of the gears to identify critical points and to compare the designs. Using FEM analysis, contact pressures and reduced stresses according to HMH were evaluated at the contact point. The numerical model itself was subjected to sensitivity analysis. Lastly, an adjustment of the tooth geometry was performed.
