Abstract

The thesis deals with the design of a heat pump for a family house. It includes the calculation of the heat loss of the house and the total annual heat demand for heating and hot water. The components of the water-to-water heat pump are also designed in the thesis. The work includes drawings of the heat pump assembly, a diagram of the heating and hot water system and the layout of the system in the building. There is also an economic evaluation that addresses the investment and operating costs. To determine the payback, a comparison of the operating costs with a gas boiler that burns natural gas for heating and hot water is made. Finally, the environmental impact of using a heat pump and a gas boiler is determined.
