Abstract
WOJDYLA, L. Radioactive wastes character NORM/TENORM and controlled release of natural radionuclides: Bachelor Thesis. Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Energy, 2016, 74 p.
Supervisor: Prof. Ing. Pavel Kolat, DrSC.
Bachelor thesis deals with the problem of radioactive waste type NORM/TENORM and controlled release of natural radionuclides into the environment. The work is dividend into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains terms: radioactivity, types of radiation, radioactive waste and its division. This part of the thesis also characterizes the units and quantities that are important in radiation physics and radiation protection and it is described instrumentation that you allow to measure ionizing radiation. The chapters are devoted to radiation protection and applicable legislation in the Czech Republic, which is defined Atomic Law are the important part sof the theoretical part. The measuring three samples of industrial waste NORM/TENORM with different levels of natural radionuclides in them was done in collaboration with VÚHŽ Inc. is the main aim of the practical part. The resuliting values are recalculated and determined activity of natural radionuclides. In this part of the thesis is evaluated whether the samples are in balance and they are defined by their mass activity. At the end of the thesis are described the ways to further disposing of samples of their release to the environment.
