Abstract

The task of the thesis was to develop a technical design of a test facility for the disposal of off-gases from a veneer drying plant in a plywood company. The company is the largest producer of spruce and pine plywood in the Czech Republic. The plywood veneer is produced by planing the veneer from tree trunks, which are soaked in hot water for better veneer quality, and then the veneer is turned to a thickness of 1.5 to 3 mm. After turning, the veneer must be dried to a final moisture content of around 2 to 4 %. This process is carried out continuously in a hot-air dryer, which is heated to a temperature of around 180 to 190 °C. The flue gas from this dryer is discharged through vents onto the roof of the production hall. As the plywood production and veneer drying is built in a residential area, the smell of the resin bothers the surroundings of the production plant. Therefore, the company proceeded to solve this problem gradually with the staff of VŠB - TU Ostrava wants to solve this problem. Therefore, the company is preparing the design of a test facility for testing the technology of odour elimination from the air discharged from the drying plant and is ready for thermal disposal of this off-gas. Before the final work can be carried out, the design of the drying technology needs to be tested and the behaviour of the air and the captured resin needs to be verified. The thesis deals with the design of the drying process and the testing of the proposed technology.
