Abstract
This thesis focuses on the analysis and optimization of a plastic chair seat manufactured
using plastic injection molding technology. The theoretical section describes the basic principles
of plastic injection molding, design principles for injection-molded parts, and the requirements
defined by standards that the part under investigation must meet. The practical section deals
with 3D scanning of a mass-produced part and comparing the actual geometry to identify
deformations arising during production. Subsequently, numerical simulations will be performed
to evaluate deformations under seat load. As part of the optimization process, design and
material optimization options for the part will be explored in terms of strength, deformations,
manufacturability, and economic aspects of production. Finally, the possibilities of using additive
manufacturing technology for prototype production will be examined.
