Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on the validation of hypotheses about the influence of human capital on labour productivity of twenty-seven member states of the European Union for the period 2000 - 2009. Author uses methods of abstraction, analysis, modeling and deduction, while multiple regression analysis conducted using the method of least squares is considered to be the most important one. The work includes three models „A“, „B“ and „C“, which express the relationship between human capital represented in the form of educational attainment and life expectancy and labour productivity. For the model „A“ a positive effect of the average proportion of people with upper secondary education on labour productivity ceteris paribus is shown, for the model „B“ a positive effect of mean life expectancy on labour productivity ceteris paribus, and for the model „C“ a positive effect of life expectancy of the population and the negative effect of the average share of persons with lower secondary education on labour productivity ceteris paribus.
