Abstract

The subject matter of the thesis is to assess the structural unemployment in the Moravian-Silesian region. The aim of the thesis is to find out what the accord between demand and supply side of labour market of Moravian-Silesian region is, and whether a structural unemployment on the labor market in the years 2005 - 2013 was growing. The work is divided into three parts. The theoretical bases of structural unemployment are clarified in the first part. In the second part the Moravian-Silesian region is characterized in demographic and economic terms with emphasis on the development of the labor market. Further the development of the labor market is shown by the Beveridge curve and factors affecting structural unemployment are assessed. The last part is focused on the analysis of the labor market of the Moravian-Silesian region. There is analyzed the development of employment and the number of job seekers and vacancies registered by the Labour Office of the Czech Republic in terms of educational attainment and occupational structure.
