CFD analýza proudění vnějším chladícím systémem sportovního automobilu FSAE

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis deals with CFD analysis of external airflow around the cooling system area of a Formula Student race car. The thesis describes the principles of internal combustion engine cooling systems, the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, and methods for modelling the radiator and fan in Ansys Fluent. The practical part is divided into the assembly of a computational model based on real characteristics of the components used, the analysis of the original sidepod geometry of the Vector 10 race car, and the design of optimised constructional variants. The optimal variant was selected using a multi-criteria decision-making method and achieves a 5.2 % reduction in aerodynamic drag and a 3.2 % increase in downforce while maintaining sufficient airflow through the radiator.
