Abstract
This thesis examines the development of the forces of inserts during grooving in the axis, above the axis, and below the axis of the workpiece. According to the results, it was also decided to monitor the wear of inserts only in the axis of the workpiece. This experiment was divided into two parts, the first experiments have been made into solid material, that means grooving until the middle of the workpiece. In the second experiments, material had pre-drilled hole of 20 mm diameter, because of the material growth area avoidance. Inserts from Dormer Pramet and Iscar companies were used for both experiments. Results of first the experiment were surprising, and important factor that significantly affects the tool life was discovered in the second experiment.
