Abstract
The Bachelor Thesis deals with the strength analysis of a column-mounted jib crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 36 tonnes. This value is only achieved under certain conditions, and therefore it was necessary to determine three load cases that result from the hoisting curve. The work also includes an introduction to the most commonly used cranes. Emphasis was placed specifically on a selected column-mounted jib crane for which a description of the functional parts was done. Furthermore, the dimensions of the boom were determined which were necessary to create the geometry that allowed the following processing for the calculation of the boom by the Finite Element Method (FEM). The relationship between the bodies and the surrounding influences was included in the boundary conditions. For each solved condition, corresponding to a different boom angle, the loading is different. At the same time, other loading effects had to be correctly determined. As part of the work, the values of the displacements and stresses in the different parts of the boom were found. Finally, the numerically calculated reaction values were compared with reaction values, calculated analytically. At the end it was evaluated whether the achieved results were acceptable or not. In case of unsatisfactory results, ways to remedy the situation were proposed.
